New Wheels for Oxford Food Bank
Oxford Food Bank has taken delivery of a shiny brand new Transit van to join their fleet of delivery vehicles, thanks to the generosity of Oxford Round Table.
Christian Petersen, a Trustee of Oxford Round Table, said “We have known for some time about the great work being done by Oxford Food Bank within the local community, and the huge importance of reliable delivery vans to their operation.”
Oxford Round Table was able to donate £12,000 to fund a new vehicle that had an immediate and major practical impact on the charity’s operations. Christian adds, “We are delighted to help this fantastic local charity using proceeds raised from our annual South Park Fireworks Display and we look forward to seeing it put to use on the streets of Oxford.”
The Food Bank’s Facilities Coordinator David Kay was delighted with the new van. “We are truly grateful for this donation as it allows us to retire our oldest van and replace it with something bigger and more reliable, enabling us to collect and deliver even more food to local charities that need it.”
Paul Medley, Oxford Food Bank’s Chairman, added “Our fleet of vans is out on the road seven days a week, picking up and delivering fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy and bakery products to charities from Bicester in the north down to Abingdon and Didcot in the south, in addition to our core area around Oxford itself. Our volunteer drivers do a great job and this new van is ideal for our operations. Hopefully a number of Round Table representatives will be joining us on delivery runs in the near future when we will be able to show them the positive impact their donation is having on the local community.”
